There were many talks about how the game was going to be, and from what I remember, the game was released effectively incomplete. We went from that, to a requirement for 800MHz and a 128MB video card. It was a major departure from the C&C team's decision to make the games more resource accessible-RA2 could be played on nearly anything at the time-a 266MHz processor was a generous requirement. C&C Generals forced me to purchase and install my first video card to play it.Ī few things stood out to me at the time: I bought it, and "reluctantly" enjoyed it. At the time of release, C&C: Generals was controversial in the community at large-at the time, I sided on the opinion that it wasn't a "true" C&C game.
